The Walking Dead’s season four premiere is “insanely filled with great drama”, its director has claimed.
Greg Nicotero, who also serves as the zombie drama’s Special FX Make-up Designer, will helm the premiere – his fifth episode directing overall.

“What’s nice about the first episode is that they always supersize it and give you an extra day [to shoot] because they know that the script is going to be insanely filled with great drama and great action,” he said in an official AMC interview.
“We certainly didn’t skimp on anything in this one. The story arcs and the script this season are astoundingly detailed, and every single nuance is there for a reason.”
Nicotero also promised a number of new zombie “gags” in the premiere, which will air in the US in October.
“We had walkers, we had mummified corpses, we had puppets, we had zombie bites,” he teased. “There were even a couple of gags that we came up with on the fly.”
Norman Reedus – who plays Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead – recently claimed that the fourth season has the show’s “best scripts” yet.
The series airs on AMC in the US and on FOX in the UK.
